Hon’ble Union
Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Smt. MeenakashiLekhi hosted
a lunch and felicitated champions of Team India who won the 3rd T-20 Cricket
World Cup for the Blindon December 23, 2022 at the IGNCA, Janpath, New Delhi.
Smt. Lekhi
interacted with the Captain of the team Shri Ajay Kumar Reddy and the team
members and congratulated each one of them. She appreciated each of the members
and acknowledged their efforts of how they rose above disability and focussed
on their ability.
Smt. Lekhi
interacted with the team members and discussed ways to further promote cricket
for the blind in India. She praised
the team work and spirit of the players on performing a hat-trick of World Cup
titles, and stated with confidence that the Indian team would win the next
World Cup as well.
Dr. Mahantesh G Kidasannavar, president of CABI, was as present as Smt.
Lekhi has been associated with the cause of Blind Sports for the last many
years.
Smt. Lekhi
congratulated them on behalf of the nation and said that they have made the
country proud. She spoke on how their discipline, team work and fortitude is an
inspiration for the younger generation.
India had beaten Bangladesh by 120 runs to win the
T-20 World Cup final in Bengaluru on Saturday. The Indian teams had beaten
Pakistan in the earlier two finals in 2012 and 2017.
