The BJP's fact-finding committee,
The BJP's fact-finding committee, led by Biplab Dev, former Chief Minister of Tripura and Member of Parliament, along with Ravi Shankar Prasad, former Union Minister and MP, Brj Lal, former DGP of UP and MP, and Kavita Patidar, Rajya Sabha member, submitted its report on post-poll violence in West Bengal following the general election. The report, presented to BJP President J P Nadda on Friday, highlighted the misuse of police and state machinery, as well as violence against BJP workers.According to the report, under the leadership of Mamta Banerjee, democratic norms of free and fair elections in West Bengal have been severely compromised due to the blatant misuse of official machinery. The police force has been practically transformed into an ancillary force of the TMC, with open intimidation, threats, violence, and attacks by TMC goons on BJP supporters and those opposed to the ruling party becoming a shameful norm of elections in Bengal.
The report also points out that a significant portion of Bengal has been flooded by illegal immigrants and Rohingyas, who are finding a safe haven under a collusive strategy from the TMC. This has led to a sharp demographic change in many areas, and the rank appeasement of these elements for vote bank politics has forced many Hindus to flee their homes and villages.
Furthermore, the report highlights a new aggressive pattern emerging after voting, where BJP voters and supporters are being forced to flee their villages due to threats from TMC workers, who are also threatening elderly parents left behind. As a result, democracy and free and fair polls are becoming casualties in West Bengal.
