New Delhi/Yograaj Sharma

Shri Maken said the Congress leaders and our forefathers had fought and laid down their lives in the formation and protection of democracy but what has happened in Karnataka was a murder of democracy under the autocratic rule of the BJP’s Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, and a repeat of what had happened in Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya. Thousands of Delhi Congress workers, under the leadership of DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken, today held a prayer meeting at Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi at Rajghat, in a save democracy campaign to protest against the murder of democracy by the BJP in Karnataka to swear-in its chief minister, and also to give good sense to BJP and Narendra Modi . Shri Maken said the Delhi Congress began the prayer meeting from Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi at Rajghat to protest against BJP’s bid to throttle democracy in Karnataka by illegally swearing-in the Chief Minister. Shri Maken said the Congress workers will come out on the streets to protect democracy and also to make people aware about the move by the BJP, Narendra Modi and Governor of Karnaka Vajubhai to overturn all constitutional norms and democratic values to hoist the BJP in power in Karnataka. Shri Maken said that the Karnataka Governor flouted the high traditions of his office and has blotted the constitutional post of the Governor by acting like a BJP worker and crushed democracy to satiate the hunger for power. Shri Maken said that like in Karnataka, the BJP had acquired power in Goa through illegal means having only 13 MLAs whereas the Congress party had 17 MLAs. Similarly, in Manipur too, Congress had 28 MLAs, but BJP with just 21 MLAs assumed power. Likewise, in Meghalaya too, Congress had 21 seats but BJP, with just 2 seats, formed the Government by setting aside all the constitutional provisions and misusing the office of Governor. Shri Maken said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah have forgotten that there is democracy in our country but they are acting like autocrats by misusing power and money to gain power. • Thousands of Delhi Congress workers, under the leadership of DPCC president Shri Ajay Maken, today held a prayer meeting at Mahatma Gandhi’s Samadhi at Rajghat, in a save democracy campaign to protest against the murder of democracy by the BJP in Karnataka and also to give good sense to BJP and Narendra Modi. • Despite the Congress and JDS having more than the majority number of 118 MLAs, the BJP, with only 104 MLAs, today sworn-in its chief minister in Karnataka which is a murder of democracy by BJP and Narendra Modi whereas our forefathers and leaders had laid down their lives for the formation and protection of democracy—Ajay Maken. • Congress workers will come out on the streets to protect democracy and also to make people aware about the move by the BJP, Narendra Modi and Governor of Karnataka Vajubhai to overturn all constitutional norms and democratic values to hoist the BJP in power in Karnataka—Ajay Maken. • Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah have forgotten that there is democracy in our country but they are acting like autocrats by misusing power and money to gain power—Ajay Maken.
