The World Human Rights Organisation (WHRO) has expressed grave concern over reports that 14 individuals from the Kuki community, including students, were allegedly taken hostage in Senapati District,Manipur state.
Humanitarian Appeal
WHRO calls for the immediate, unconditional, and safe
release of all civilians. “Detention of unarmed civilians, especially students,
violates fundamental human rights and international humanitarian norms,”
WHRO appeals to the Government of Manipur, district
administration, and security forces to take urgent steps to ensure their safe
return and to investigate the incident thoroughly.
WHRO urges all groups to exercise maximum restraint, protect
civilian lives, and resolve differences through dialogue. “Students and
civilians must never be targeted in any dispute,” the statement added.
WHRO remains committed to peace, justice, and protection of
human rights for all communities in Manipur.
