New Delhi: The Rohini Sector 20-25 Federation has called for greater attention to civic infrastructure in the authorised colonies of the area, with residents raising concerns relating to roads, water supply, sewerage, sanitation and waterlogging.
The issues were discussed at a general body meeting held at Central Park, Pocket-10, Sector 22, on Sunday. Representatives of resident welfare associations and residents from Sectors 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 25 participated in the meeting. Women and young residents also took part in the deliberations.
Participants expressed particular concern over the condition of Sectors 20 and 22, citing damaged roads, waterlogging and inadequate sanitation. They also discussed difficulties faced by residents in pursuing civic complaints when responsibility for different public services rests with separate departments.
The meeting also considered the response of officials and elected representatives to residents' grievances. Federation representatives said that increased activity by the organisation had contributed to greater awareness of local issues among the concerned departments, while observing that considerable scope remained for improvement.
The Federation welcomed the government's development works valued at ₹214.12 crore in Kirari, Bawana, Mundka, Narela and Nangloi Jat. It, however, expressed concern over the exclusion of the authorised colonies of Rohini Sectors 20-25 from the package.
Federation president Pawan Chaurasia and general secretary Naveen Aggarwal said more than 100 RWAs were associated with the Federation. They said residents had reported complaints concerning contaminated water, uncertainty over water-supply timings, low water pressure and sewer blockages and overflow.
The Federation resolved to collect complaints concerning water supply and sewerage and place them before the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
The members also appreciated the cooperation extended by Delhi Jal Board officials in addressing complaints.
The meeting discussed measures to increase the participation of women and youth in the Federation's activities. Members who had contributed actively were honoured with mementoes.
The Federation reiterated that its objective was to work in coordination with government departments and civic authorities to improve public amenities and promote balanced development in Rohini Sectors 20-25.
